With smart security identified as one of the top features people expect in a smart home(*), Yale’s latest connected locks are now fully compatible with Samsung SmartThings system, making traditional keys a thing of the past.
Samsung SmartThings has now launched its new line of
products, available across the U.S. and the U.K., including an upgraded Hub,
sensors, and intuitive mobile app for a powerful and easy to use solution that
helps solve specific problems.
Using the SmartThings app, both Yale’s Keyfree
and Keyless Connected smart locks can be unlocked from anywhere, so guests,
cleaners, carers or anyone who’s forgotten or lost a key or PIN code can be
granted quick access.
As well as remote unlocking via the app, both locks
feature a keypad with PIN code access, so there’s no need to search for keys or
a mobile phone when arriving home with bags of shopping, or after a run in the
park.
The Yale smart locks can also keep track of who’s
coming and going through the door and at what time, ideal for parents keeping
an eye on teenage children or anyone paying for home services by the hour.
To connect with the SmartThings hub, the Yale Keyfree
and Keyless locks are fitted with a Z-Wave radio module, making the devices
easy to set up and work seamlessly in the smart home.
Yale’s Keyfree model is suitable for PVC and composite
residential doors, whereas the Keyless model is designed for timber doors.
Commenting on the addition of Yale’s connected smart locks
to the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem, Tabitha Morton, Head of Integration for
Yale Smart Living said: “This is the latest example of co-operation between two
leading brands to make smart living a reality for more UK homeowners. Samsung
SmartThings is one of the most innovative and easy to use home automation
systems, and now with Yale smart locks consumers can benefit from the latest
home security features as well.”
Mark Younger, Managing Director of SmartThings Europe,
said: “People are beginning to understand the real value that smart home
technology can provide in their everyday lives. We’re really excited to have
recently launched SmartThings in the UK with a new Starter Kit that lets you easily control, monitor,
and secure your home from anywhere in the world. Our partnership with Yale continues our
commitment to delivering the easiest and securest smart home solutions, as well
as creating a truly open ‘Internet of Things’ platform that maximises
collaboration and innovation across the industry.”
