Vigitron, a leading manufacturer of extended distance transmission products for security and data applications has announced the release of their Vi2208/Vi2216 MaxiiPower™ 8 and 16-port High Power PoE Midspans which conform to IEEE802.3 af/at.

Both models deliver up to 37 watts per port with no power management required. No power sharing assures that all ports can simultaneously provide maximum rated power. LEDs at each port display current operating status and provide fault notification. In the “Auto Mode” the product operates as Plug and Play and does not require any user setup. The Midspans automatically communicate with PDs and provide required power.

The user can also setup detailed operation and monitoring features using a simple Windows™ based interface software connected via USB or serial port. It offers port enable/disable, force power, output current and wattage monitoring, and remote PD classification for each port. Shorts and other alarm conditions are monitored in the software and indicated by port status LEDs on the front panel.

“The Vi2208/Vi2216 addresses the need for ever increasing PoE power”, stated Neil Heller, Vigitron’s Vice President of Business Development. “With many applications requiring more than standard 802.3af the Vi2208/Vi2216 can upgrade systems with the need to replace existing Midspans. Further using the Vi2208 or Vi2216 for new installations helps to separate the switch and power functions increasing overall system reliability. By using Vi0015 power adapter two ports can be combined together to provide up to 74 watts to address CCTV cameras highest power requirements”

Based in San Diego, with sales offices in the United States and UK, Vigitron has built its reputation on cost-saving technology that enables clients to use new and existing coax or UTP copper infrastructure with either analog or IP CCTV systems at extended distances. Vigitron was nominated as the finalist for Best Communications Product of the Year Award at IFSEC 2011. With a history of over 15 years, Vigitron continues to provide new and innovative approaches to CCTV transmission.
