Visitors to the ASFP stand (D50) will be able to test their skills on the ASFP Wall of Fire. Aimed at explaining the vital role of compartmentalization in restricting the spread of fire and smoke, the ASFP Wall of Fire will feature a number of potential
compartmentalization breaches. Provided with a range of passive fire protection solutions, visitors will be asked to place each correctly to prevent fire from spreading. As well as improving their passive fire protection knowledge, visitors will compete to win a bottle of champagne.
The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) will be welcoming visitors to the ASFP Passive Fire Protection Zone, at Firex International in London’s ExCel on 20-22 June.
The Zone will allow visitors to gain a greater understanding of the essential role of passive fire protection within today’s built environment and offers advice for all involved from designers, specifiers and contractors, to building owners, risk assessors and facilities, managers. It will encourage greater cooperation at every stage of the design and build process and throughout the life of a building.
The ASFP will be showcasing its range of services, from publications and videos to technical advice, seminars, training and member support. Representatives from ASFP member companies will be on hand throughout the Zone to address visitors’ specific questions and concerns relating to the specification, installation, inspection and management of passive fire protection.
The ASFP will also be holding seminar session in the Firex Expertise & Guidance Theatre from 11-12.50 on Wednesday 21 June 2017. The seminar will provide an update on the ASFP’s work to develop a new construction strategy aimed at ensuring installed fire protection measures within the modern built environment are fit for purpose.
With fragmentation within the construction design and build process identified as a key factor in preventing the correct specification and installation of passive fire protection, the ASFP has brought together as expert panel to develop an industry wide framework to address these issues. Speakers from the key disciplines to include an architect, Tier One contractor, passive fire protection manufacturer, passive fire protection installer, building owner/Facilities manager will discuss the potential impact of the strategy on their work and take questions from the floor.
