Sony’s new SNC toolbox mobile app, makes installers’ lives much easier

The convenient app provides live video from the camera via Wi-Fi to the installers smartphone or tablet screen, allowing adjustment of view angle and basic settings, making installation quicker, easier and safer

Basingstoke, October 14, 2015: Sony has just released its new SNC toolbox mobile, a convenient app that provides a simpler and smarter video security camera setup tool for installers. This innovative installation tool displays live camera images via a plug-in Wi-Fi dongle on the camera, to a smartphone or tablet, and allows the installer to easily adjust field of view and focus. With no need to carry a laptop or installation monitor up the ladder, and no trailing cables, basic installation can easily be done by one person, ultimately saving installers time and integration costs.

Installing and setting up security cameras can be a slow, inefficient and labour-intensive process. In some installation scenarios, fine adjustments typically require an installer to phone from the top of a ladder to another operator in the control room viewing the images on a PC screen. Even cameras equipped with an analogue video output require an installer to hold a portable video monitor in order to adjust zoom and focus settings.

The new SNC toolbox mobile makes it quicker and easier for installers and security managers to set up their entire fleet of Sony network cameras. With the camera connected to a secure wireless network, installers can view live video from the camera on the screen of their smartphone or tablet, and check settings on the camera, or even adjust the camera’s zoom and focus, without the need for a PC or physical access to each camera.

Adjusting focus and zoom on Sony’s latest-generation SNC-VM772R 4K camera is easy. Plug in the optional IFU-WLM3 USB Wireless LAN Module to the SNC-VM772R; using WPS, quickly set up a secure connection to your waterproof Sony Xperia phone / tablet or other mobile device. Without compromising network security, the SNC toolbox mobile uses a direct Wi-Fi connection between the smartphone and the camera - letting installers adjust settings and view live camera images directly on screen. As well as focus and zoom, SNC toolbox mobile also lets you control other features for the SNC-VM772R, including aspect ratio, image stabiliser and distortion correction.
