Redamak diner boosts customer and employee safety with Avigilon high-definition solution

A popular tourist destination, Redamak’s is a legendary diner that is known for its excellent food, family-friendly atmosphere and exceptional service. With a staff of 155 employees, like many restaurants Redamak’s faces challenges such as theft, fraud and employee safety. To address these issues, the diner deployed the Avigilon high-definition surveillance system to boost security, ensure health and safety compliance and manage inventory and food quality.

“I was intrigued by the difference in image clarity and pixel count compared to my old analog system,” said Chuck Maroney, general manager at Redamak’s. “After an impressive presentation, we were quickly sold on the system’s performance, reliability, and ease-of-use. We didn’t even look at other systems.”

Redamak’s installed 25 Avigilon HD 1MP and 2MP cameras to cover both the main and employee entrances, dining rooms, food preparation area delivery dock and parking lot. Nine employees manage the system using the Avigilon Control Center (ACC) software with High- Definition Stream Management™ (HDSM). In addition, several Avigilon analog video encoders improve the performance of older analog cameras, which are used inside for general surveillance purposes. Redamak’s stores 30 days of continuous video footage on Avigilon HD Network Video Recorders (NVRs) and several managers use ACC Mobile for remote monitoring.

Managers view the system from their computers on the 50-inch monitor located in the main office, and can control access to their back door using Avigilon footage. Managers also use the system to verify deliveries at the diner’s back entrance and grant access accordingly.

The Avigilon high-definition surveillance system has improved safety at Redamak’s and provided employee’s greater peace of mind that should an incident occur, it can be easily investigated and resolved. With immediate access to footage of the restaurant, managers can review allegations of sustained injuries, helping to avoid potential liability claims. And with greater coverage of the loading dock and parking lot, employees also feel safer when closing the restaurant late at night.
