Bull Products’ Cygnus wireless alarm system is currently featuring at the heart of the £2.4billion development of the new International Quarter in London.
Located at Stratford near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the 22 acre development will provide 4million sq.ft of office accommodation and 333 new residential units with community facilities, all located adjacent to Westfield Stratford City, the now well-established retail and leisure facility.
The Cygnus wireless alarm system is now being used to protect workers in the construction of two major buildings in the development, which will be occupied by the Financial Conduct Authority and Transport for London.
Some 72 Cygnus fire call point modules are being used across the two buildings under construction, these being linked to a CYG1 control panel which features a GSM/GPRS remote link allowing third party monitoring and reporting to site personnel by SMS text messaging. The panel can also be accessed from a PC so users can remotely view the system’s status from any location. A CYG6 Cygnus base panel is also used in conjunction with the CYG1 control panel for controlling the units on another part of the site.
Demonstrating the flexibility of the Cygnus wireless system is the installation of a Cygnus input / output interface, CYGIOU, which allows the system to interface with the lifts and turnstile gate entry systems on site. In the case of activation, this interface unit will trigger the door releases and will deactivate the turnstile so that quick evacuation can be made to the assembly point.
Wyse Power Ltd specified the Cygnus wireless alarm systems after successfully using the systems on other projects. Gary Reed, Site Supervisor for Wyse Power Ltd at the International Quarter commented, “I am delighted with the Cygnus performance and more than happy with the system which is very user friendly as well as extremely effective.”
