Food Waste
Grundon’s dedicated food waste collection and recycling service helps you to reduce the amount of food waste being sent to landfill – meaning that not only can you reduce your carbon footprint, but you can also significantly cut the amount of landfill tax you have to pay.
Food waste collected and recycled via our service is taken to an Anaerobic Digestion facility, where naturally occurring micro-organisms break down the food waste to produce biogas and a nutrient-rich fertiliser called digestate used for agriculture and in land regeneration. The biogas is converted into renewable electricity in gas engines and is fed to the National Grid.
