Cygnus alarm system protects Copenhagen’s new science institute

Bull Products, a manufacturer of life-saving fire protection equipment, is expanding into the European market further, after securing a contract in Copenhagen.

Working alongside distributor, Lindpro, the Cygnus Wireless Alarm System has been installed in Niels Bohr Building, a new science institute which is part of the University of Copenhagen.

It consists of two separate buildings on either side of one of the busiest roads into the centre of Copenhagen. The buildings are connected by an underground pedestrian tunnel requiring extensive relaying of pipelines (steam, district heating, drainage/sewerage, 10 kV control cables and gas) on both sides of Jagtvej.

More than 140 Cygnus units have been installed across both sites that are all on one system which is split into 14 zones. Despite the site being split into two by the main road, the system’s reliable meshing protocol ensures there is no issue with communication; there is even a Cygnus call point in the underground tunnel that connects the buildings.

Additionally, mobile detection devices have been installed and can be relocated around the site as and when is necessary without the need for tools and equipment.

Bradley Markham, director at Bull Products, says: “The Niels Bohr Building required an alarm system that would work underground and have the capability to connect the system through two buildings, without compromising on connectivity or signal strength. We’re delighted to be protecting complex buildings with our alarm system and we’re looking forward to strengthening our presence in Europe further.”

Paddington regeneration scheme protected with Cygnus alarm system

Bull Products, a manufacturer of life-saving fire protection equipment, has won a contract to supply its Cygnus Wireless Alarm System to Paddington Waterside regeneration.

Paddington Waterside regeneration is one of London’s most exciting new residential quarters and will comprise of 350 apartments and a two-storey basement car park.

Working alongside construction solutions company, JRL Group, Bull has supplied more than 80 Cygnus alarms. Intended for use on construction sites, the Cygnus system has been designed for specific use on construction sites where changing site conditions and environments demand a far higher performance from the radio than those found in standard wireless fire systems.

To meet customer and market demand, the Cygnus radio system has been undergoing some upgrades and modifications which now include added functionality, improved battery life, better configuration software and a combined smoke and heat detector.

Bull has also supplied its Fire First Responder Station – a fully customisable and central point for all fire safety equipment including fire alarms, extinguishers and signage.

Cygnus offers maximum protection to Battersea Power Station

Cygnus sails the seven seas
