Charity begins at home for the Heywood based GJD Employees

14 Feb 2014

As GJD Manufacturing celebrates its 30th year, the investment in R&D and commitment to utilising the latest technology has seen the company grow into a multi-million pound global market leading business. GJD’s strong and continuous growth pattern results from an ardent philosophy of producing consistently reliable equipment coupled with a dedication to after-sales support.

However Lancashire based GJD has another reason to celebrate! Their commitment to local and national charities as well as to the local community of Heywood knows no boundaries. With a busy calendar of charity events already planned for 2014 we take a look at some of the deserving causes that GJD helped in 2013.

March 2013 saw GJD act as host for a collection day at the Morrison’s store in Eastwood, Essex. A total of £878.00 was raised from selling the Marie Curie Daffodil pin badges.

In May 2013 Team GJD participated in the Down Syndrome Extra 21 annual fund raising event. This involved a 6 hour team kart race at Buckmore Park circuit in Kent. 35 teams took part and team GJD finished in first place, raising an incredible £1,000 towards the final total of £20,000.

No rest for Team GJD in July, as employees took part in the London to Southend 35 mile off-road bike ride raising money for the British Heart Foundation. And finally in December after a busy year, GJD staff donated brand new toys for babies, children and teens to the Salvation Army.

Managing Director, Mark Tibbenham comments “I am so proud of all of our employees. They give up their time generously to help support these worthwhile charities; it really is great fun to take part in the fundraising events and to give a little back”.

The events calendar for 2014 is already looking busy as Team GJD prepares to defend their title at the Down Syndrome Extra 21 kart race in May– no pressure there!

In September, Greg Stuttle, Sales Director at GJD, is pairing up with his brother John to form ‘Team Stuttle’ in the British Heart Foundation, London to Paris road bike ride. This is approximately 250 miles long and will take 3 days. Greg is hoping to raise £1,500 for the charity. We wish Greg, John and all Team GJD the very best of luck and look forward to hearing how they all get on.
