TDSi equip state-of-the-art access control systems

To offer the highest levels of safety and security to patients and staff, London’s Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals have recently been equipped with state-of-the-art access control systems from TDSi. Expert installation specialist, Advanced Detection Systems (ADS), specified TDSi’s solutions as part of a project that encompasses security and fire monitoring systems to fully protect both of these high-profile and well-respected medical establishments.

The project was completed earlier this year, and controls 617 doors across a number of different buildings at Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospital, which is a prominent medical teaching site in Acton. ADS Managing Director, John Coleman, commented, “This has been a major and high-profile project for us which required a best-of-breed solution for the access control system element. TDSi systems are specifically designed to integrate with other building services and security systems and are particularly well suited to projects where CCTV, fire alarms and access control need to work closely together to protect people and property. In partnership with TDSi, we were able to offer Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital solutions which fully met their needs and give peace of mind that patients and staff can be fully protected from emergencies and potential security breaches, at all times.”

TDSi’s Director of Sales – UK, Stuart Griffiths, also commented, “The project at Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospital is an excellent example of how TDSi’s systems can be easily and very successfully integrated with other building services and security solutions to offer a highly intelligent and powerful access control system. A hospital environment protects many vulnerable people and assets, so being able to fully co-ordinate security whilst making the most of existing asset investments (particularly when budgets are under closer-than-ever scrutiny) is a highly desirable outcome for all stakeholders.” TDSi’s EXpert IP system is a fully featured networkable access control unit, with supervised inputs and relays, making it ideal for monitoring and signalling alarm conditions such as those at Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. With capacity for up to 48,000 cards, the flexible access controller is ideal for those applications that feature high user volumes through access points - such as a busy hospital and teaching environment. EXpert IP features a Stand-by battery facility that allows the system to continue operating in the event of power failure and the system can be controlled without the need for PC communications, so security personnel can take control wherever it’s needed on the site.

Used in conjunction with EXpert IP, TDSi’s EXgarde PRO software is capable of controlling up to thousands of doors at multiple sites with thousands of users. The software can control a range of building management and control systems, from CCTV and intruder alarms to environmental systems, to offer one portal that puts the user firmly in control and offers a wide range of user-defined control and reporting options. EXgarde PRO provides full control from multiple PCs or IP-connected devices, without the need to purchase additional applications and is designed to be straightforward to operate to minimise installation and training time.
