ASSA ABLOY`s Aperio technology upgrades access control at the Netherlands'; premier event arena

Ahoy Rotterdam, one of the Netherlands’ largest sports and music arenas turned to the Aperio range from ASSA ABLOY to upgrade its door security system

The award-wining events accommodation Ahoy consist of a 15,000-capacity Arena, 6 Exhibition- & Event halls and a Congress- & Meeting Centre and hosts for example global headline acts like Paul McCartney and Coldplay. The challenge was to work within a budget to replace mechanical cylinders and upgrade a security system that protects over 1.6 million visitors each year. Aperio wireless locks offer an affordable way to integrate mechanical doors into an access control system, allowing security managers to extend flexible, wireless access without breaking the bank.

“The intelligent Aperio technology was chosen to create a wireless connection with the existing access control system from Nedap, without requiring any modification to the existing doors,” says Harro van Est, Manager Facility Services at Ahoy.

The new Aperio wireless access control technologies replaced existing mechanical locks without major modifications to the doors. The upgraded system works seamlessly with existing card readers, providing individual access to each of Ahoy’s 250 employees. The system is watertight and easy to extend as needs at the arena develop—the wireless access control system at Ahoy is future-proofed.

About Aperio: Available on the global market place, ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio Technology now enables a wide range of access control providers to cost-effectively integrate non-wired doors with mechanical locks into access control systems.
