... Or, more accurately, "Transparent Composite Armour". This is a new product which Air & Ground exclusively represents in the UK for Jenoptik.

Armour has become an increasingly important factor in today's vehicles as a significant component of military effectiveness. Jenoptik composite materials provide a concept for transparent armour, consisting of pure high-transparency plastic. It protects against ballistic threats as well as those from mine fragments and IEDs, which leads to higher survivability for the driver and passengers.

Glass armour is generally difficult to shape.  The usual glass transparent armour assembly for front windows in vehicles consists of two flat plates and a bar in the middle of the windshield.  In contrast to glass armor, a Transparent Composite Armour is bendable, therefore the central bar becomes redundant resulting in a wider field of vision.  Another striking advantage of composite armour is that it sustains a high degree of visibility even after being hit.
